As some of you heard, I suddenly had to make the switch to freelancing last week. While it’s a frightening leap it’s something that I had been thinking about the last couple months. While I’ve tried to prepare for it, there are still a bunch of uncertainties, and I’m so thankful for all the support I’ve gotten these last few days. Doors are opening up and I’m eager to be working with the wonderful creative community that has been prospering in Pensacola. One door that opened was the opportunity to photograph the Art and Wine Festival, hosted by the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce.
Taking place at Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, this was an event where you could enjoy the couldn’t-be-more-perfect weather while tasting a variety of wines and appreciating the creations of many talented artists. Seriously, the weather was gorgeous. We frequently have to deal with freak weather here in Florida, but luckily that wasn’t the case. Oh, and I forgot to mention the music provided by local band The Six Piece Suits!
The main attraction of course was the wine tasting. If you bought a ticket, you got a small branded wine glass to take to the multiple booths serving wine. Mostly separated by style, the servers would give recommendations based on your tastes. Unfortunately I wasn’t party to the drinking, but it was great seeing so many people enjoying the event. Including couples that were kind enough to pose for me and the Chamber. One of which were on their honeymoon, married just the other day!
I’m not much of a wine drinker, but I could certainly enjoy the beautiful art and the lovely people behind it. Some artists have problems with people taking photos of their work but they even let me use their tables for backdrops in my shots. Personally I’m a fan of the colorful resin coasters by Brigitte Resin Art. Oh God, does that mean I’m getting old? The were also plenty of artistic paintings and hand-crafted jewelry. I’d love to one day be able to come back and actually fill my house with art.
It was so nice having live music to accompany the event, it really added a certain ambiance. Playing many “originals” The Six Piece suits had great stage presence and knew how to interact with the crowd. I got some great shots of a couple having an absolute blast and of people jamming down by the stage.
